Update And Return

It may be more accurate to call this a “redo”, but I’m sticking with “update” and no one can stop me.

It’s been a long time.

I’d be lying if I said this near year-long lapse was an intentional move on my part. Dealing with ME/CFS is, after all, a constant battle. But the truth is, the lapse wasn’t just due to the illness. I didn’t know how to use this website or what the hell I was going to do with it.

So, I had to put this website on the backburner. Even if it was a brand new venture.

Until now. (I think. I’m very consistent.)

It’s important for me to talk about this period, but I’ll save that for another time. What’s important for now is to update you, the scant few, on the present and future of this website.

First, to state what this website is not.

I created this website to make something for myself in spite of the ME/CFS. It was originally going to be a mix of a writer’s blog and an editor’s website, but the sustainability of this wasn’t in line with my scope with the illness.

So, I’ll be focusing on the “writer” aspect of that initial idea.

This website will not be for the purpose of editing services.

It is and will always be used for updates on my writing, whether that be what I’m currently working on or the odd article I publish in magazines. It will also be a hub for my musings on whatever the hell I feel like writing about.

Anyone who lives with a chronic illness or has similar issues knows life is a series of understanding certain restraints. The process (and the person) has to be more fluid and receptive to failure than an average person usually deals with, but within this is a kernel of truth:

There is no “true” failure, just an accumulation of battle scars in a constant fight no one asked for and from which there is no reprieve.

Basically, fuck you ME/CFS. I’m not done yet.

Returning to this website is both a spiteful act of rebellion against an illness that refuses to leave me be and a reclamation of my title as a writer. Of my future, in some sentimental sense.

To wrap up, expect more articles and blogs as well as the odd tinkering with the website. There will be more information to come on current projects as well.

Now, let’s see how this goes!
